Strategic Advice

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) in the Northern Territory is unique compared to most other EPAs as it has no regulatory function. Rather, it provides strategic and systemic advice to the Minister in the Northern Territory Government responsible for the environment.
To produce this advice, the EPA undertakes research and consultation on matters of particular significance to the Northern Territory environment. Projects to date have included reviewing the environment assessment framework and evaluating how the international principles of sustainable development might best be applied in the Northern Territory context. It is a requirement of the EPA Act that the EPA's advice is made publicly available. See the EPA's strategic advice listed in the left hand menu under this section.
