Community Engagement - Seminar

Section 7 of the Environment Protection Authority Act (the Act) sets out how the EPA is to act in exercising its powers and performing its functions. The Act requires that the EPA “must consult with agencies, businesses and the community” and “facilitate community involvement (reflecting the diversity of the community) relating to issues affecting the community”.

With this charter in mind the EPA endeavours to adopt processes that welcome community input and welcome contact with the community. The formulation of policy advice on particular matters usually involves a discussion paper process with consideration of all responses before the provision of the advice to the Minister. Inquiry reports are published on this website and tabled in Parliament.

The EPA also seeks to provide informative and thought provoking materials including public forums which all members of the community are welcome to attend.
